MARÍA ISABEL GÓMEZ TORRES MaribelGomez(a)asmadrid.org		Nacida en Agost (Alicante). Es licenciada en Filología Española (especialidad de Literatura) por la Universidad de Valencia. Ha obtenido posteriormente el título de Especialista de Español como Lengua Extranjera en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Está en posesión del Certificado de Aptitud Pedagógica por la Universidad de Valencia. Ha trabajado como profesora de Lengua y Literatura españolas en centros del Ministerio de Educación en varias ciudades españolas. En la actualidad está estudiando Filología Inglesa y Teatro. Aficiones: nadar en aguas serenas, quedarse en tierra con Iberia, golpear salvajemente ordenadores y pelearse todos los días con el inglés. Born in Agost, Alicante, she is a graduate of the Universidad de Valencia, majoring in Spanish Philology. She also holds a degree in Spanish as a Second Language from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Teaching Degree from the Universidad de Valencia. She has taught Spanish Literature and Language at several public schools around Spain. She is studying English Philology and Theatre. She loves to swim in tranquil and peaceful waters and to be stranded while flying Iberia. Holds a never stopping battle with computers and with the English language.
FERNANDO LIROZ MARTÍNEZ Liroz(a)asmadrid.org		Nacido en Madrid. Aunque estudió en el Ramiro de Maeztu, cantera del Estudiantes, su altura nunca le permitió dedicarse al baloncesto. Es licenciado en Filología Hispánica (especialidad de Lingüística) por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). Posteriormente ha seguido estudios de Filología Eslava en la UCM y en la Universidad Estatal de Moscú (MGU), así como de Historia en la UCM y de Profesor de Español como Segunda Lengua en la Univ. Autónoma de Madrid. Está en posesión del Certificado de Aptitud Pedagógica por la UCM. También ha realizado los Cursos de Doctorado en Lingüística (Tipología Lingüística) en la UCM y UNED, y está preparando su tesis doctoral que se publicará en… Ha impartido clases de Lingüística en la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid y en varios centros de enseñanza secundaria. Ha publicado -en el seno de un grupo de trabajo de la UCM- el Diccionario de términos lingüísticos Ruso-Español y Español-Ruso, así como varios artículos especializados en lingüística. Sus aficiones son la lectura de mamotretos horribles y la confección de estúpidas páginas web para el departamento. Es profesor en ASM desde 1994. Madrid born. Although he studied at Ramiro de Maeztu, a high-school which is the home of the Estudiantes Basketball Club, his height obliged him to look elsewhere. A graduate of Universidad Complutense de Madrid, he holds a 5 years Major (Licenciatura) in Spanish Philology (linguistics branch), as well as a Certificate to teach Spanish as a Second language from Univ. Autónoma de Madrid. He has also studied Slavic Philology at the Universities of Madrid (UCM) and Moscow (MGU) and History, at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Teacher degree from the Universidad Complutense. He has finished the Courses needed to obtain a Ph.Dr. degree in Linguistics (Linguistic Typology), but the paper will be presented in... er... Well, some year. He has taught Linguistics at the Universidad Autónoma as well as at a high-school level. With a linguistic team from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, he has published The Dictionary of Linguistic Terms, Spanish-Russian-Spanish and some other papers on Linguistics. An avid reader of rare books, among his hobbies are the design of stupid web-pages for the Spanish Department. He has been teaching in ASM since 1994.
MERCEDES MARINÉ BLANCO MercedesMariné(a)asmadrid.org		Nacida en Madrid. Licenciada en Filosofía y Letras (rama de Pedagogía) por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Profesora en Lower School del Colegio Americano desde el año 1991. Imparte clases de Español como segunda lengua, además de Lengua y Conocimiento del Medio Natural, Social y Cultural (Programa Oficial).   Aficiones: ir al teatro, al menos una vez al mes, cantar y acompañar canciones con la guitarra, bailar y practicar deporte para mantenerse en forma. No le gusta el frío ni los deportes de invierno. Sus favoritos son la natación y el buceo, en los que se siente como pez en el agua.
INMACULADA MARTÍNEZ REIF InmaculadaMartinez(a)asmadrid.org		Nacida en Madrid. Es Licenciada en Filología Hispánica (Lingüística) por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, estudios que simultaneó con la diplomatura en Turismo en la Escuela Oficial. Posteriormente ha seguido estudios de doctorado en Español como Segunda Lengua en la State University of New York at Albany (Estados Unidos). Está en posesión del Certificado de Aptitud Pedagógica por la UCM. Ha trabajado como Guía Turística por buena parte de Europa y como profesora de español durante cinco años en la State University of New York at Albany, así como en algunas de las más prestigiosas academias de Español para Extranjeros de Madrid. Es profesora de ASM desde 1994. Sus aficiones son subirse a la montaña más alta que encuentre, hablar todos los idiomas, ser una gran aficionada al arte de todo el mundo, viajar en compañía de buenos amigos y, sobre todo, ver el mundo desde las cimas más altas. Born in Madrid, she is a graduate of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Obtained her 5 year Degree (Licenciatura) in Spanish Philology from that university and the one as a Tourism Graduate from the Escuela Oficial de Turismo in Madrid. She simultaneously studied both careers. She has also conducted doctoral studies (Spanish as a Second Language) at the State University of New York at Albany, where she then worked for five years as a teacher. Teacher degree from the Universidad Complutense. She has also worked as a tourist guide and as a teacher at some of the most prestigious academies of Spanish as a Second language. She has been a teacher in ASM since 1994. She enjoys all kinds of art, mountain climbing, speaking in all languages, travelling in the company of good friends, and, above all, to look down at the world from the highest peaks.
JUAN ANTONIO ORTIZ BULNES (Juan Ortiz en ASM) JuanOrtiz(a)asmadrid.org		Cartagenero de nacimiento, madrileño de adopción. Licenciado en Filosofía y Letras (especialidad de Geografía e Historia) y Diplomado en Magisterio por la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. ANTIGUO ALUMNO de ASM, de Kinder al grado 12, ha sido PROFESOR en el colegio desde septiembre de 1982, de Español como lengua extranjera, de Lengua española, de Literatura, de Geografía e Historia y de Filosofía. Desde hace muchos años es el Director Técnico del Colegio y Jefe del Departamento de Español. Le gusta hacer algo de deporte (lo que el tiempo permita y el cuerpo aguante) y tiene las otras típicas aficiones, que todo el mundo menciona, a saber: la lectura, el cine y sobre todo, viajar. Juan was born in Cartagena (Southeast Spain) but he´s lived in Madrid most of his life. He´s a graduate of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where he obtained a Degree ("Diplomatura") in Education and a Major ("Licenciatura") in History. Juan is a GRADUATE (class of 78) of ASM, where he was a student from Kinder on. Juan has been a TEACHER at ASM since September, 1982. He´s taught Spanish as a Second Language (grades 3 and 7-12), English as a Second Language (Summer School, ages 6-13), Spanish Language (grades 7 and 8), Spanish Literature (grade 11), and Geography and History of Spain (grade 11). He´s been Co-director of the Summer Program and has had all kinds of other administrative responsibilities. He is the "Director Técnico" (since 1990), the Coordinator of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (1996-2002), the Spanish Department Head, and he taught Philosophy to seniors. Juan likes practicing sports (whenever time allows and whatever his aging body can handle). His other hobbies are the ones everybody seems to have (he claims it´s true for him): reading (preferably novels), movies (preferably not "oldies"), and travelling.
MARÍA JOSÉ SÁNCHEZ CAMPAÑA mariajosesanchez(a)asmadrid.org		María José nació en Málaga. Es Licenciada en Historia Contemporánea y también en Historia del Arte por la Universidad de Málaga. Realizó un Máster en Lengua y Literatura Iberoamericanas en la Temple University de Filadelfia (EE.UU.) donde residió durante tres años. Asimismo, realizó el Curso de Adaptación Pedagógica (CAP) en la Universidad de Málaga. Ha impartido clases de Humanidades en diversos centros educativos españoles. Fue Teaching Assistant del Departamento de Español de la Temple University Graduate School (Filadelfia, EE.UU.) e impartió clases de Español para adultos en Inlingua, Berlitz y otros centros de Filadelfia. Es una lectora empedernida. Le gusta viajar con la familia y reunirse con los amigos. Le interesa la gente de la que puede aprender algo. ¡Ah! Y lo más importante: ¡LE ENCANTA ENSEÑAR! Born in Málaga, María José is a graduate of the Universidad de Málaga, majoring both in Contemporary History and in Art History.  She also has a Masters Degree in South American Literature from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, USA, where she lived for three years. Teacher degree (CAP) from the Universidad de Málaga. She has taught Humanities in several Spanish schools and worked as Teaching Assistant of the Spanish Dept. of the Temple University Graduate School (Philadelphia). She has also taught Spanish in Inlingua, Berlitz and other educational centres in Philadelphia. She loves reading as much as she can, to travel with her family and to meet her friends. She likes that kind of people from which you can learn new things. And she loves teaching.
